FAQs

Cervical traction is …

… the solution for those who suffer of arthritis, cervical muscle strains, bulging and/or herniated discs, tensioned shoulders and spasms. Why? Because of the distraction force applied to relieve the neck pain.

How does cervical traction help your neck health?

By gently creating expansion between the head and the neck, cervical traction eliminates compression in your spine. It is considered that it can be used as an alternative treatment for neck pain, so people may avoid medication or surgeries.

In order of separating or pulling the vertebrae, watch what, actually, happens:

  1. The ligaments around the spine and the muscles along the spinal cord start to gradually stretch and relax.
  2. The blood flow and nutrition get into the intervertebral space of the spine which is now expanded.
  3. The circulation is increased and improves the level of oxygen in nerves, muscles, tendons and ligaments, by having as final result the amelioration of the pain and a freely mobility.

What is a cervical traction device?

It is a device that works by lightly stretching the spinal vertebrae and muscles to relieve pressure and pain. Using the force or tension to stretch or pull the head away from the neck, it:

  • creates space between the vertebrae
  • relieves compression
  • allows the muscles to relax
  • improves mobility, range of motion, and alignment

If The Hammock for Neck treatment works on my symptoms, will I have to use it forever?

The idea behind the Hammock for Neck is based on stretching. Stretching is meant to be continuously done to get an immediate relief every single time that you stretch, because by not doing it, the muscles will become tight again.

So The Hammock for Neck, by analogy, represents an effective long-term solution for neck and/or head tension and/or pain. It improves your mobility, so as you become more mobile, it means you do not need to use that often anymore.

What is the hammock for neck made of?

Fabric Composition: 80% polyester, 20% spandex

How far should the top of your head be from the wall/door that The Hammock for Neck is attached to?

This matter of fact is relative to which height is comfortable for each individual, it depends on what are you willing to achieve by using it and, remember, that also the angle is important.

Your body is smart, it will show you what it likes or doesn’t, so you need to adjust the tension based on your needs:

  1. Looking for an aggressive stretch, sit away from the door/wall
  2. The stretch is too much, move back towards the wall/ door

Ideally, we recommend that the base/pad of The Hammock for Neck be approximately 2-4 inches off the ground when assembled, however, as for the distance between the hammock and the y-axis (e.g. wall or door), it will also depend as to which angle feels relaxing and comfortable for you.
